    Before it was eradicated , small pox was one of the most lethal viral infections known to man, leaving its victims with painful blisters, scarring and sometimes deformities. Testing suggests that the strain of the virus found in the child is the same one that appeared in samples from the mid-1900s and the late 1970s. Scientists gathered the relatively intact viral strain from the mummy's preserved tissues - the oldest known sample of smallpox - and ran tests on the sample.

But right now, I'm looking at about 300 children that won't have gifts that weren't on the tree.
