Shortly after 8 p.m. Friday the California Highway Patrol tweeted that one-year-old Makai Bangoura was found safe.
The boy's mother reported that his father had not returned him Thursday, and on Friday an Amber Alert was issued that has now been called off. They were recently seen in Menlo Park, but police said they could be anywhere. (18 kilograms) He has brown eyes and brown hair.
According to police, Lam was believed to be driving a tan 2000 Toyota Corolla with the California license plate of 5SEY238. He is about 5-foot-3 and weighs about 145 lbs.
The father, who had been identified as 30-year-old Jason Lam, was taken into police custody and the boy, Makai Bangoura, was taken into protective custody, Preciado said.
It was unclear when the boy was due back.
An Amber Alert was canceled Friday night after authorities recovered a 1-year-old boy in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Palms after he was abducted out of the San Francisco area by his possibly suicidal father. He is African-American, has brown eyes and brown hair and was abducted May 12.
CHP officials said Lam appeared to be suicidal.
Further details were not immediately available.
Before going missing, Makai had last been seen at 3 p.m. Thursday in San Francisco.
