Kizer taking to Jackson's coaching

"He is taking (coaching)", Jackson said laughing after his first practice.

DeShone talked about the similarities between his hometown of Toledo and Cleveland and how playing in close proximity in college at Notre Dame has prepared him for the local fans. But he was ultimately unable to guide the Browns to a win as a starter and struggled at times to push the ball downfield. With that, I am just excited to learn as much as I can from him. "We'll get these guys reps, and (Kizer) has to get some because I have to continue to evaluate him". I thought he did some really good things today, but you have to do it again and again and again.

"He's a great quarterback, but when I play against him he's going down", Taylor at the time, according to the Medina Gazette.

"There's a reason him and (head of football operations) Sashi (Brown) select the guys to come to the Browns, and that's to hold us to the highest standards and get back to winning".

"He takes coaching well", Jackson said. While the defensive help will go a long way for the disappointing Browns team, there are a lot of holes to fix on this roster. He said he felt "comfortable" with the current crew.

When he wasn't laid horizontal by opposing defenses, Kessler looked more than capable of being the Browns guy in 2016.

According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network, Kizer is looking forward to competing for the starting job. But very few transactions happen around the league, maybe one or two a year that would affect the quarterback position, particularly a starting-caliber quarterback. The USC product started eight games last season, going 0-8 as a starter, and completed 65.6 percent of his throws for 1,380 yards, six scores and two interceptions.

The Browns acquired Osweiler from the Houston Texans in March, even though he was not expected to be in the team's long-term plans. He is the Browns' most experienced gunslinger with 21 career starts. Will that be predetermined like it was with Kessler last season?

But before Kizer even allows himself to think about one day becoming the franchise quarterback, he knows "absolutely a lot of work needs to be done" between now and the start of the regular season with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, September 10.
