Cavs to waive Sanders, sign Raptors 905 star Tavares

I pride myself on being a teammate first, keeping everybody upbeat, everybody focused.

The Cavaliers stumbled to the end of the regular season with four straight losses while looking discombobulated and at times lost - and that's just the way they like it, says General Manager David Griffin.

February 8: One game after a thrilling overtime win in Washington - snapping the Wiz' seven-game win streak - the Cavs do the same to the red-hot Pacers, with Kyle Korver tying a career-best with eight triples as the Cavs won in an arena where they'd dropped 12 of the previous 13.

"I think through everything that went on with our team, we're in a position where we can do something special still", James said. We just got to the point where we realized he was a long way from playing meaningful National Basketball Association minutes.

"They're not guys that are going to come down and beat you off the dribble and run pick-and-roll", Lue said.

Tavares played mostly this season for Toronto's D-League affiliate, the Raptors 905, where he averaged 10.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and a league-best 2.7 blocks in 48 games. The Blazers must get plenty of production from guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, who average 50 points between them.

"We think it's meant to be", Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. Houston was hit with some injuries through the latter part of the season, but the Rockets will have their full rotation available to open the playoffs. "This is a heck of a time". The Cavs were also without Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, and fell a game behind Boston for No. 1 in the East.

Robin Lopez scored 18 points and Jimmy Butler and Jerian Grant had 17 apiece to pace the Bulls.

The Cavs officially announced the signing of 7-foot-3 center Edy Tavares and guard Dahntay Jones on Wednesday. The Raptors aren't listing anyone as out right now, but DeMar DeRozan is battling an illness and listed as questionable.

The Cavaliers (51-31) have failed to secure the top spot as they rested some of their players in the final two games.

The biggest highlight was Valanciunas' long shot. "But it starts with baby steps first, and we understand that".

Why shouldn't James be optimistic as he has been to six-straight NBA Finals.

"The most important thing for us is getting those guys some rest", Lue said. "It's just time to get it rolling".

Chris "Birdman" Andersen, who played for both Cleveland and Miami, was in a baseline seat opposite the Heat bench. He scored 43 points in Cleveland's 135-130 double overtime win over the Pacers on April 2nd.

The Pacers however are red hot, Paul George in particular. When J.R. Smith went down, James upped his three-point shooting percentages.
