In the film, Aparna plays a woman who has turned her back on love, Lilette Dubey plays a woman trapped in an abusive marriage, and Shabana Azmi's character unravels layers after layers of closeted yearnings.
Mumbai: Aparna Sen again brings a story of women centric which is exploring the mid life crisis with loneliness of three unmarried women living in Mumbai.
Based on Mahesh Eklunchwar's play of the same name that had debuted in the year 2000, "Sonata" is a film about three single, middle aged ladies in what looks like a story of "feminine bonding".
Although it remains unclear from the trailer whether Sen plans to stick to the original storyline of the play, the trailer sure looks like a melodious song sung by three friends as they sift through life.
Coached by artist Sharoni Sen, Shabamna Azmi has also reportedly sung two Tagore songs for Sen's film.
Filmmaker Aparna Sen has unveiled the first trailer of her next, Sonata, and it is a liberating, fun-filled philosophical, poetic take on the life of women.
