Victor Brantley was shot and killed in Newark on February 1, 2017.

Authorities are responding to a police-involved shooting in Newark. Police say they arrested Joan Aguiree, 23, near Kearny Street and Broadway behind a high school. The innocent bystander who was shot was not identified. He has been charged with Brantley's murder.

Police pursued the vehicle for three blocks, and one person got out of the fleeing vehicle - and that's when police fired, apparently hitting one man in the leg, sources say.

The officers had been responding to a double shooting outside a store on Bloomfield Avenue and Garside Street.

The prosecutor's office has not released the name of the shooting victim or the wounded suspect.

Sheriff's officers with a police dog and a New Jersey State Police helicopter appeared to be searching the area Wednesday night. At least 50 officers were on a manhunt for at least one shooter.

As of 5:40 p.m., there was a massive police presence at the scene. Detectives with the Newark police division's Major Crimes Bureau were handling the non-fatal shooting cases.
