NVIDIA has released the Android Nougat update for their NVIDIA Shield console and the update adds support for 4K HDR and more. The update brings lots of new features and improvements such as Amazon Video, Nvidia Games Apps, Nest, as well as other enhancements.

Notwithstanding all of these unbelievable added features which are going to be found on NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015), the one who clearly stands atop is Amazon Video. Users with Amazon Prime membership will be able to watch Amazon originals like The Grand Tour.

The Nvidia Games app is a one-stop shop for exclusive Android games and GeForce Now titles (like GameStream but it uses the cloud instead of your personal PC). The update will roll out sequentially over the next few weeks via the app update option in the Google Play Store. The NVIDIA GameStream will stream videos in 4K HDR.

Special Edition and Lanterns will be available on SHIELD TV 2015 after the update.

An array of new apps will also be debuting on SHIELD post the update.

"SHIELD welcomes the National Football League app, the new Twitter for TV app, Comedy Central, Vimeo and Viki'" state NVIDIA's release notes. Android 7.0 Nougat adds recent apps page, so you can now double-press the Home button to quickly access recent apps. Got got Cast support, Plex now supports high-end speaker configurations (4.1, 6.1 and 8.1) and the Shield remote got a Pause function (double tap the volume slider). Performance wise, it is the strongest TV available in market now and supports content from channels like Netflix, Google Play Movies, VUDU and Amazon Videos.
