For the second straight year, Alabama has lost a commitment from a kicker late in the recruiting process.
3-star kicker Brandon Ruiz has decommitted from Alabama, per his Twitter account.
Now, it's 2017, and another kicker has gone against the Tide.
"First off, I would like to thank the University of Alabama and the coaching staff for the opportunity to continue my education and football career at their school". "I have thought and prayed with my family and we have decided that it was best for me to de-commit at this time".
Ruiz, who's from Gilbert, Arizona, released a statement regarding his decision to back off his pledge to Alabama.
The Arizona native had originally committed to the Crimson Tide last summer after earning an offer at Bama's specialist camp.
There is speculation that Ruiz could be looking at staying home again with Arizona State, a consensus that All-American Zane Gonzalez came to with his college career.
As for Alabama, its need for a kicker has seldom been as noticeable as it is now.
Alabama may have to turn to rising senior Andy Pappanastos who was 6-of-6 on PAT attempts with a 33 yard field goal in one attempt this season.
