Chelsea boss Antonio Conte chose to exercise the option to end the defender's season-long deal with the south coast side early.
Chelsea have recalled defender Nathan Ake early from his loan-spell with Bournemouth after some impressive performances. "Honestly, I'm evaluating his situation, because Ake could be an interesting opportunity in this window, yes, for us".
"AFC Bournemouth would like to thank Nathan for his efforts over the past seven months and wish him well for the future".
Conte said at a news conference on Friday that he was thinking about recalling Ake, who spent last season on loan at Watford.
The Netherlands Under-21 global has played for Chelsea five times in the Premier League, the last of those appearances coming in May 2015, and he is now set to be involved in their title chase.
The former Feyenoord man was left out of the Bournemouth squad on Saturday as Howe made 11 changes to his starting line-up in the 3-0 upset by Millwall in the third round of the FA Cup.
Bournemouth confirmed Ake had been recalled with a statement on their website.
"So that's going to be a hard one for us. With Simon Francis's suspension and Marc Pugh's injury and now Nathan going back, our defensive resources are certainly stretched".
