Search and recovery operations resumed in Lake Erie Sunday for a plane that went missing Thursday with six people on board, including Boardman High School graduates, John and Suzanne Fleming.

Personnel from the Cleveland fire department, the U.S. Coast Guard and Underwater Marine Contractors, Inc. launched boats to start the search Sunday, an update on Cleveland City Hall's blog states.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday air traffic control called the Coast Guard, reporting they lost connection with the plane.

The plane was carrying John Fleming, 46, president and chief executive of Ohio-based liquor distribution company Superior Beverage Group, his wife, Sue, their sons Jack and Andrew, and two close friends, company officials have said.

The search will begin near the last known location of the aircraft.

The press release says each of the search and rescue boats has skilled dive teams equipped and prepared to begin their operations once the aircraft location is identified.

Weather and lake conditions have hampered the search but city officials say Sunday's conditions are favourable, with 5 miles per hour winds and clear, sunny skies.
