President-elect Donald Trump is filling his Twitter feed like the campaigner of old even while racing to fill senior positions in his administration.
President-elect Donald Trump signaled a sharp rightward shift in USA national security policy Friday with his announcement that he will nominate Alabama Sen.
This comes on the heels of this week's announcement of three picks to Mr. Trump's national security team.
The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Priebus earned Trump's trust and confidence over the campaign.
All three share sharp criticisms of current President Barack Obama's national security policy and views on terrorism.
Before starting the job, Pompeo would have to be confirmed by the Senate. "But with a Republican majority-controlled Congress, if (Sessions) wants to say the war on drugs is back on, he won't face much opposition".
Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, the nation's third vice president, recited a message from the stage: "We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights".
Sessions was pressed on accusations that he had called a black prosecutor "boy" and a white civil rights attorney "a disgrace to his race". "Jeff Sessions as Attorney General-Designate is troubling to all who believe in the rule of law", said CHC Chairwoman Linda Sánchez. "Jeff has been a highly respected member of the U.S. Senate for 20 years". I strongly urge President-elect Trump to withdraw this nomination, and if not withdrawn, I call on the Senate to reject this nominee. "Jeff is greatly admired by legal scholars and virtually everyone who knows him". And he has said that Muslim leaders are "potentially complicit" in terrorist attacks if they do not denounce those made in the name of Islam. "He has served our country with honor and spent his life fighting for the security of our citizens". He enrolled as a teenager at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. and graduated first in his class in 1986. Individuals associated with the Koch brothers businesses have donated $357,000 to Pompeo's political career since 2009. The firm is run by major political donors Charles and David Koch. The president-elect also moved to install Michael T. Flynn, a retired lieutenant general who has said that Islamist militancy poses a global existential threat, as his national security adviser.
Abe said after their NY meeting that he could have "great confidence" in Trump as a USA leader.
Flynn built a reputation in the military intelligence community as an astute professional and unconventional thinker. Some people may be tired by the deluge of problematic decisions by Mr. Trump, but we can not let that fatigue distract us from the fact that Mr. Trump is quickly proving not only to be just as unprepared to serve as President as we feared, but even more committed to rolling back the progress that we've made over the past 8 years.
Trump planned to meet Saturday with one of his sharpest Republican critics of the campaign, 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney, at Trump's golf club in New Jersey, and on Sunday with two leading supporters, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani. Pence said on CBS's "Face the Nation" that he wasn't offended. Bob Corker and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who met with Trump on Thursday.
During the campaign, Sessions was a loyal source of rumor and innuendo for Trump, feeding into conspiracy theories like "Hillary Clinton is hiding a health problem". On the surface it's a unusual pick considering the heated relationship the two had during Trump's campaign, with Romney calling Trump "phony" and "a fraud", but Romney would be one of Trump's most valuable picks considering his years of Washington experience and governing experience in MA.
As Donald Trump prepares to become President of the United States, the billionaire businessman has been making his cabinet picks known.
Some US allies have been rattled by Trump's campaign comments that questioned whether he would maintain US loyalty to joint security arrangements and free trade accords.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was also being considered for the same position, but he too said he would not take a position due to his lack of federal experience.
But the most important story, as far as much of the media is concerned, is the seemingly turbulent transition that Trump is having in the transition of power.
Mr. Trump's transition has been criticized for being frenzied, but Vice President-elect Mike Pence insists it's a smooth process. It is going so smoothly. Where laws permitted, many citizens were able to enjoy medical or recreational marijuana without worrying about federal prosecution but that might all change. Trump said on Twitter.
There is more where this came from, but you get the idea.
