Multiple aircraft near the Detroit Metro Airport were targeted Monday evening with green laser pointers, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The FAA said it directs the reports to local law enforcement and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for follow up investigation. No injuries were reported.
Airport spokeswoman Erica Donerson tells the Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/2eiEMgX ) that airport police are investigating the reports.
Similar incidents have been reported previously at the airport as well as at other USA airports. It's illegal to use lasers to distract airplanes.
Pointing a laser at an aircraft is a federal crime.
