Minnesota Vikings starting QB will likely be Sam Bradford, says Titans coach

The Vikings are splitting snaps between Hill and Bradford this week after acquiring Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade on Saturday. Spielman was told by Vikings' ownership "Do what you have to do" regarding to the Bradford trade.

Sam Bradford is in a new town with a new playbook and a lot of learning to do.

After Teddy Bridgewater's season-ending injury last week, the Minnesota Vikings acquired Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend.

Quarterbacks Shaun Hill, left, and Sam Bradford warm up as the Minnesota Vikings held practice in Eden Prairie on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016. Later that afternoon, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, showed an unusual emotional side to him.

Bradford has played a full 16-game season only twice in six years. Zimmer said "we'll see how it goes" when asked if the plan to play Shaun Hill at Tennessee remained in place. The Vikings get a starter to replace the injured Teddy Bridgewater, while the Eagles bring some clarity to a muddled quarterback situation and could be ready to hand their team over immediately to prized rookie Carson Wentz. He said competing for a starting job is nothing new for him.

"I made a bunch of calls", Spielman said according to NFL.com. At a certain point it falls on Bradford to elevate his teammates rather than rely on them, or for the Eagles to find a quarterback who can. Eight days later, the team signed Chase Daniel to an expensive contract (3 years, $21 million) for a backup quarterback, which seemed questionable. I don't turn on the television other than Disney Junior for my kids.

The Vikings had Super Bowl aspirations this season until Bridgewater went down with a gruesome dislocated knee injury and torn ACL on Tuesday. So I think if there is a superstar of the group it is (head coach) Mike Zimmer. "That's the way he took it".

Logic may dictate that Shaun Hill knows the offense more and could get the start, but money and draft picks talk, especially a 1st and a 4th round. Hill, 36, started the second preseason game at Seattle, and generally was solid.

"I only know what we've put in the past two days or what they've taught me the past two days", Bradford said afterward. "And I've been with Sam before and I get along great with Sam, and he is a good player, so they added a good player to this roster". I'm sure it's a very small percentage. "As far as my confidence, and my mental approach to things, I don't think that would have any effect".

Bradford has been working to learn offensive coordinator Norv Turner's system since he got to Minnesota.

NOTES: Bradford had been to Minnesota once in his life before the trade.

"Obviously [the lack of time is] not ideal", Bradford said. Pruitt has a left knee injury and likely wont play at Tennessee.

Had it not been for Teddy Bridgewater's injury, the Vikings would have been slightly higher. So unless it's scrolling across the bottom of that, then I'm probably not going to see it.
