"It's a great way to win a football game", said quarterback Taysom Hill to BYU Athletics.

"Our special teams coordinator, Assistant head coach, Ed Lamb, felt really comfortable with (Oldroyd)", Sitake said.

Oldroyd kicked a 33-yard field goal with 4 seconds left and Jamaal Williams ran for 162 yards, helping BYU rally to beat Arizona 18-16 on Saturday night.

"Things just went our way", said Sitake.

TOUGH START: BYU has one of the nation's most hard schedules in its first season under Sitake. Arizona's Nick Wilson is back after missing four games with injuries last season after breaking Arizona's freshman rushing record with 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2014.

BYU then took over at its own 31-yard line after a decent kickoff return by Matt Hadley and Hill calmly led the Cougars down the field for Oldroyd's winning kick. Hill said Williams - playing for the first time since November 1, 2014 - "is the MVP, for sure". "We knew we had a great opportunity".

Hemmila, a 22-year-old fifth-year senior, was found dead in his apartment on August 8 of unknown causes. Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez joined Hemmila's family with athletic director Greg Byrne and offensive line coach Jim Michalczik for a pre-game ceremony that include a highlight video.

Yeah, there's a new sheriff in town, one who hasn't been afraid to express gratitude to his former employer and boss, Kyle Whittingham, and to call the rivalry what it is - the biggest game on independent BYU's schedule.

Solomon, named the starter just before the game, threw for 213 yards on 20-of-30 passing. "We were able to get the victory, I'm super pleased with how the guys played". Wilson capped the drive with a 15-yard jaunt, making it 15-10 with 9:33 left in the game.

The Cougars (1-0) held the Wildcats (0-1) to 328 total yards and no first-half points en route to the win.

BYU: Williams was explosive at times and Hill was efficient in his return, coming through when the Cougars needed him to.

The Arizona Wildcats couldn't get much production going through three and a half quarters, relying heavily on the defense to get the necessary stops. Arizona entered the season with plenty of questions and didn't get many answers.

"What I saw was that we weren't assignment sound in the fourth quarter", said BYU middle linebacker Butch Pau'u, who led the team with nine tackles. His first career carry and touchdown culminated an 11-play, 65-yard steady drive in which Hill completed all four of his pass attempts.

Arizona: The Wildcats play their home opener against Grambling State next Saturday.
