In the aftermath of the armed confrontation between the banned outfit NSCN (K) and a convoy of the 5th Assam Rifles at Tillomi bridge near Ghuvishe village of Aghunato sub-division in Zunheboto on Friday evening, situation in the area was reported to be "normal" today.

A convoy of Assam Rifles was ambushed by militants in an area between Ghokishe and Luvishe villages in Zunheboto district of Nagaland injuring a security personnel.

"It is confirmed that six jawans were killed on the spot and four sustained critical injuries and more than dozen sustained less critical injuries", the MIP claimed and further added that the number of deaths could be as high as 8 to 10.

The last truck was completely destroyed after falling into a roadside ditch, while two other trucks were also partially damaged having been fired upon from close quarters, the MIP stated.

But the Nagaland government and defence sources said that four security personnel were injured and nobody was killed in the attack.

NSCN-Ks claim was baseless and they are trying to spread rumours, an official of Nagaland government said.

This is the third attack on security forces by the insurgent group in the past one month.
