"#InsideAmySchumer is not canceled". She said she wanted the show's writer's room to include a variety of opinions and viewpoints, especially because "Jessi and I have such similar sensibilities".

This tweet seems to be the start of the confusion.

When fans and critics demanded to know how Schumer could continue to employ Metzger, particularly given Inside Amy Schumer's avowed feminist bent, Schumer went on to explain that Metzger "is not a writer on my show".

Kurt is Kurt Metzger.

Hours earlier the author addressed Metzger's comments on sexual assault, which are being hailed as insensitive.

"Kurt does not work for me", Schumer added on Twitter.

According to the "Inside Amy Schumer" star, the show is on hiatus because she is now on a promotional tour for her book, "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo".

She also tweeted that, despite being credited as such, Metzger is not a writer on her show. Schumer has not clarified whether her comments mean Inside Amy Schumer is ending or simply on a break between seasons.

While Mr. Metzger has worked on her Comedy Central series in the past, she explained that he's not now her writer because there are "no plans for the TV show to come back anytime in the near future".

Amy Schumer's days with Comedy Central may be numbered. In his post he mocked women who report rape, seemingly in response to the fact a comedian had been banned from performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade theatres amid rape allegations from several women. "Hi @amyschumer if you have any words re: your writer Kurt Metzger & his rape apologist ways many women/comedians would really appreciate it!" "I didn't fire Kurt", she posted late Wednesday night.

Reps for Comedy Central and Schumer did not respond to requests for clarification. The show premiered in 2013 and has received a Peabody Award, eight Emmy nominations and two Emmy wins in its four-season run.
